Borbonese Qualk – Lies

It sure is a good time for fans of classic industrial music at the moement! Mannequin Records has announced a series of Borbonese Qualk re-releases, starting with the track ‘Lies’ from the 1986 album Preparing for Power. Accompanying Lies on the 12” will be one remix and one edit from Ancient Methods. I’m intrigued to hear what Ancient Methods does with it, it’s definitely the sort of thing he could really run with.

Following that will be a double LP and CD release of Borbonese Qualk 1983-1987, a compilation of material from the band’s first five records. Interestingly, BQ member Simon Crab doesn’t sound entirely pleased with the track choices, but he is involved with providing artwork for the whole series.

Release dates for all these reissues is still TBA but if you can’t wait, the band has made all recorded material available for free online following the death of guitarist Miles Miles and the break-up of the group in 2002. You can grab MP3s here.

One track from the Silent Servant/Broken English Club split 12” that I’m desperate for but am very responsibly not buying until I have some steady work lined up

let’s see how long my resolve lasts

Photo sphere at the highest pub in Derbyshire!

Today I rode bikes in the Peak for a Planet X photoshoot. We did Stanage Edge and then Abney, just nice places near Sheffield. They needed wide angle shots so we chose higher locations with panoramic views. I might have left PX but I still have friends there for whom I don’t mind doing favours. Tom is processing the photos now, so in the mind time here is a photo sphere I took when we stopped for lunch at The Old Barrel, the highest pub in Derbyshire!

Sweet spacey synth jam from the master

once the intro/shoutouts are done with this was everything I hoped it would be

I’m disappointed that I missed the all-important final lap live, but I’m seriously pleased for Kwiato winning the world champs yesterday. I always like to see him riding well because he is such a positive racer. That really stood out this weekend with many others looking around at each other too much and groups failing to co-operate well together. We saw it in both the men’s and women’s races. Kwiato can read these situations well and make something of them while everyone else is playing mind-games with each other and themselves - just look at his Strada Bianchi win
